General Policies

RENTER REQUIREMENTS:

  • The person making the reservation must be the same as the credit/debit cardholder and is considered the Guest of Record.
  • All other individuals staying at the property are considered Invitees.
  • Guests must be at least 25 years old to book.

MINIMUM STAY:

  • Minimum stay requirements vary by property and are subject to local, county, and state regulations.

PAYMENTS & BALANCES:

  • A 50% deposit is due at the time of booking.
  • The remaining balance is automatically charged to the payment method on file 30 days before the due date.
  • A security deposit hold of $500 will occur 2 days before arrival and will be released, assuming no damages, 5 days after departure.
  • A $37 one-time Administration fee is included with all bookings
  • My Costa Rica Homes accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover.

Guest Communications & Fees

TEXT COMMUNICATIONS:

  • By providing your phone number, you agree to receive text updates regarding your stay. Message and data rates may apply.

Occupancy & Property Use

OCCUPANCY & HOUSE RULES:

  • My Costa Rica Homes properties are for personal vacation use only.
  • Commercial, business, or event use is strictly prohibited.
  • The Guest of Record must be present for the entire stay and may not sublet the property.
  • The maximum number of guests is determined at booking. Any additional guests must be approved and may incur additional fees.
  • A signed and fully completed rental agreement (including names and ages) with photo ID is required within 24 hours of booking.  Person signing and staying must be at least 25 yrs old.  No unregistered guest (must be on rental agreement) at anytime.
  • Quiet hrs strictly enforced from 9pm-9am.  Loud noise after 9pm can be grounds for eviction.
  • No children under 5 yrs old permitted on the property. (only applies to Casa Elsa & Casa Elsa with Apartment)
  • Guests are responsible for locking all doors/windows in the villa when they are absent – safeguarding its contents, including guests’ personal items.
  • I understand that because Costa Rica is a developing nation and can have torrential rain storms during rainy season, sometimes you will loose power. This is not unusual. Although it does not happen often, when it does it could be a few minutes or a couple hours. Do not be alarmed.  There are emergency flashlights around the house for your use and you can contact your concierge if you have any questions.   No refunds are given for acts of God.
  • I understand that the home is open air except for the bedrooms which have AC.  The AC is fitted for the bedrooms only so the bedroom doors should never be left open.  Additionally the AC should not be left running while no one is in the room.
  • I understand that certain people will be in or around the property during my visit.  These people will include, but not limited to:  housekeeper, grounds keeper, pool services, pest control, maintenance.  We will do everything possible to limit these interactions to the best of our ability.
  • No pets, smoking, loud music, commercial photography, parties or events.
  • Third party travel insurance is required to cover any cancellations outside of our cancellation policy. 

DAMAGE POLICY:

  • Guests are responsible for any damages caused during their stay.
  • My Costa Rica Homes reserves the right to charge the guest’s credit card for damage, or leaving the property excessively dirty.

DAMAGE PROTECTION:

  • Some reservations may include accidental damage protection. Please confirm with our team if this applies to your booking.

Check-In & Check-Out

ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE:

  • Check-in is  3:00 pm or after on the day of arrival and check-out is by 10:00 am on departure day.  These times are also outlined in your arrival instructions.
  • Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability and additional fees.
  • Guests must leave the rental tidy upon departure. Excessive cleaning may result in an  additional charge.

Property Conditions & Maintenance

UPON ARRIVAL:

  • Guests must inspect the property upon arrival and report any issues immediately.
  • No refunds or adjustments will be made unless My Costa Rica Homes is notified during your stay.

EMERGENCIES & MAINTENANCE:

  • For urgent issues, contact your concierge or the local police.

NO SMOKING POLICY:

  • Smoking of any kind is strictly prohibited in all My Costa Rica Homes properties, including on balconies, lanais, and outdoor areas within 20 yards of the home.
  • Violations will result in cleaning fees and potential eviction.

POOLS & HOT TUBS:

  • Use of pools and hot tubs is at your own risk.

Cancellations & Refunds

CANCELLATION POLICY:

  • My Costa Rica Homes adheres to its cancellation policy:

Free cancellation at least 30 days prior to check-in, or within 48 hours of booking if cancelled at least 14 days before check-in. After that, cancel more than 1 week before check-in and get a 50% refund of the accommodation fee. After that, no refund will be issued.  

  • Travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect your reservation against unforeseen circumstances.
  • Cancellations must be submitted in writing.

FORCE MAJEURE & UNAVAILABILITY:

  • If the property becomes unavailable due to safety concerns, sale, or legal restrictions, My Costa Rica Homes reserves the right to cancel the reservation and issue a full refund.
  • Refunds are not issued for weather-related events, road closures, or power outages. Travel insurance is highly recommended.

Additional Terms

PRIVATE PROPERTY DISCLOSURE:

  • All My Costa Rica Homes Properties are privately owned homes, not hotels.  Room service is not included but Chef Services can be arranged for an additional fee.

MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS PERMISSIONS:

  • Your email will be used to send periodic newsletters, promotions, and other information relating to marketing and communications. At any time, you may unsubscribe from these communications using the link at the bottom of emails or contact us directly.

By confirming your reservation, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to all My Costa Rica Homes Properties Terms & Conditions. You also affirm that you will explain these policies to your entire travel party.

My Costa Rica Homes reserves the right to update these terms at any time.
